Aviva Investors Real Estate Conference 2009

Time to reconsider property?

Thanks to all who attended our real estate conference on 9 October 2009. Feedback suggests that delegates found our speakers and the themes covered of great interest and that they left us with some useful views and ideas around our real estate capabilities. Here is a brief reminder of the main messages from the conference:

  • It has been a difficult period for investors in commercial property; in the UK capital values fell 44%* since the peak in June 2007
  • We believe it is time for investors to start thinking about their allocations to property with a view to increasing exposure
  • The UK appears to be the market that is most advanced through the real estate cycle and we expect capital values to rise over the next 12 months; other investment opportunities are emerging across global commercial property markets but timing will vary from one market to another,
  • At Aviva Investors we manage a range of mainstream and specialist real estate funds, supported by large teams across the regions and designed to satisfy a variety of investor needs
